EMERGENCIES
treatment inner thumb

We strive to offer our patients a variety of dental treatment options for missing teeth. Replacing missing teeth is increasingly being done with dental implants.

What Is A Dental Implant?

A dental implant replaces the root of the tooth. In contrast, other methods only replace the visible part of the tooth, which is the crown. The purpose of dental implants is to replace a missing tooth aesthetically and functionally with a titanium alternative that is as close to a natural tooth as possible.

What are the advantages of a Dental Implant?

A dental implant can be used to replace a lost tooth, improving the appearance of your smile as well as the function of your bite.

Advantages of dental implants:

  • Dental implants have the same sensation as your natural teeth.
  • They are fixed and do not need to be removed to be cleaned.
  • There is no need to leave any extra plastic or plates within the mouth, as is the case with dentures.
  • Dental implants are the most cosmetically appealing replacement tooth option.
  • They are designed to seem like your natural teeth, so no one will notice that you have a dental implant, even if it is a front tooth.
  • In most situations, neighbouring teeth do not need to be filed or treated in any way, as is common with traditional dental bridges.
  • Dental implants work exceptionally effectively for replacing one or more teeth (even a patient’s complete upper or lower arches of teeth can be replaced).

Can the implant teeth be cleaned easily?

Yes. For a successful, long-lasting implant, aftercare is crucial. It is important to follow the care instructions given to you by your dental team.

Cleaning around the implanted teeth is no more challenging than cleaning the natural teeth. Nevertheless, you may need to clean some areas that are difficult to reach. There may be a need for more frequent hygienist visits but your dental team can advise you on this.

What types of implants are available?

Dental implants cover a broad spectrum of patient concerns, which we are proud to offer.

Single tooth implants replace just one missing tooth. Patients who don’t want to replace a missing tooth with a bridge or denture may wish to opt for a single tooth implant. In the event that adjacent teeth are lost in the future, the implant can be augmented without further surgery.

All-on-Four/All-on-Six Same Day Teeth are used to replace multiple or all teeth in an arch. Typically, treatments are completed on the same day and are ready for immediate use. The All-on-Four/All-on-Six treatment has several advantages, including less need for bone grafting, faster healing, and a higher success rate for treatment of complete arches.

Implant retained dentures can be an excellent choice for people familiar with dentures but would like better stability. Implants are attached to a denture with implant-retained dentures – just like a pop button – which holds the dentures in place as you go about your daily activities. Dentures with reduced suction and retention benefit the most from these implants.

As with all of our treatments, you will have a comprehensive consultation to assess suitability, given all of the treatment options available, and our team will be happy to guide you through the process.
