For those who need a filling, you can request a white one from your dentist instead of a silver one. As part of Band 2 treatment, some white fillings are available on the NHS.
Should the white filling treatment not be available on the NHS, we will be happy to draw up a private treatment plan and discuss payment options with you.
Known as composite fillings, white fillings are made from a material used to fill cavities caused by tooth decay.
To produce white fillings, dental composites and resins are available in a variety of shades to match the natural colour of your teeth.
The preparation process for bonding is less invasive than that for amalgam fillings (silver fillings), which need to be mechanically retained by the tooth.
As well as being more aesthetically pleasing, white fillings are cured using the blue light in the surgery, which means patients are able to eat and drink right after leaving the surgery, if not numb.
